Well, we’re all stuck at home. But that doesn’t mean we can’t satisfy our adventurous side, or splurge on a world-class concert or opera, or take an art class – and all of it for free!
Location
Your laptop, your armchair, your living room.
Problem
Enjoying culture: that means touring historic sites, strolling through a museum or a gallery to view the art, taking part in a folklore event, attending a concert — all things that we are not able to do for the foreseeable future.
Solution
Many centers and institutions of culture are responding by bringing their treasures to us! And so are we.
The social media and the internet make virtual culture the next best – and in some cases the even better! – thing.
ARCH wants to make it just a little easier by collecting these offerings – ours and those of our colleagues – in one place.
We love watching the Tiger King – it’s crazy! But when we get tired of that, it’s nice to have some other choices. How about a playlist compiled by a group of Cuban artists? Or a database of international folk music? On a Sunday, did you formerly enjoy visiting a museum or sipping a glass of wine while viewing the work of new talent at a gallery opening? You provide the wine, we’ll hook you up with the museum and the gallery. Opera? Archaeological ruins? We are so proud of how our friends and partners in the world of cultural heritage have responded to the challenge, and made their treasures accessible for free to the world public during this health emergency.
