Date: October 18, 2018

Wonderful! After years of walking every beach, recording every nest, awaiting every turtle hatchling, Vatika Bay is on Archelon‘s map of officially recognized Caretta caretta nesting sites. The sea turtles are a living link with Pavlopetri. They were swimming and nesting in Vatika Bay in 3,000 BCE before Pavlopetri sank into the sea — and now they swim over the foundations of Pavlopetri’s buildings, courtyards, streets, and graves.
